New Zealand and Indonesia business ties
New Zealand has a close and collaborative partnership with Indonesia, built on our shared history and interests.
Trade between our two countries is worth NZ$2.16 billion a year, making Indonesia New Zealand’s 13th largest bilateral trading partner. Food and beverage exports play a major part in this, making up 65 percent of New Zealand’s total exports to Indonesia. In 2016, this sector was valued at NZ$548 million.
New Zealand and Indonesia also have longstanding ties in key areas such as geothermal energy, aviation. Our businesses are also well-placed to work with Indonesian partners in emerging areas such as financial technology and smart cities, and this interest in closer collaboration and knowledge sharing is a natural progression for both nations.
