New Zealand and Colombia business ties
Colombia is a strategic partner for New Zealand in Latin America, with business relationships that continue to evolve and strengthen.
New Zealand and Colombia recorded almost NZ$44 million of two-way trade in 2018, making Colombia New Zealand’s eleventh-largest trading partner in Latin America. Our top goods exports to Colombia include medical equipment, confectionery and electrical machinery and equipment.
Services trade between New Zealand and Colombia is also diverse and deepening, with New Zealand companies seeking Colombian partnership opportunities in agribusiness, food processing, retail, construction, aviation and health. New Zealand technologies have the potential to support Colombia’s productivity and profitability across these sectors.
Projects such as the dairy value chain project in three departments in Colombia are designed to build a better understanding between the Colombian and New Zealand agricultural sectors and help lift the performance of small producers, connecting them to market.
A bilateral Air Services Agreement was signed between Colombia and New Zealand in 2017. New Zealand has also been an active observer of the regional Pacific Alliance, and is currently seeking an associate membership.
